Disappointing CES 09, new HTC Android at MWC?

Consumer Electronics Show 2009 has been pretty disappointing for us Android lovers. No new mobile phones.. no, not even announcements, prototypes. Only a couple of demos which included the Giinii Tablet, and a desktop phone and later we heard of a Qualcomm chipset that demoed with Android. That was _unbelievably_ it! Initially we read about Asus’s Johnny Shih talking about Android and Devices

There were some rumors about Kogan Agora showing off its Android in CES. That ah, didn’t happen. We’ve heard before of Motorola hiring a slew of developers for a so called “Social Networking” kinda lika phone. That remains to be seen. I’d say Motorola should have been one of the first companies to launch Android considering the economic downfall its suffering. Android has the potential to save the company. If it keeps delaying, who knows? the same financial story might continue. Hit the iron when its hot! EMERGING NEWS: MOTOROLA IS LAYING OFF HALF OF ITS MOBILE DIVISION EMPLOYEES! IS NO FOCUSING COMPLETELY ON ANDROID – Engadget

And heres the latest: A Telstra Executive is reported to have spoken about a new HTC device thats way better than the latest the showstopper of CES, Palm Pre and its WebOS. Apparently this new HTC will be powered by Android with a large screen. More information could emerge at Mobile World Congress next month.[ Via Engadget ]. Its been November 2007 since the announcement and September 2008 since the G1 announcement. I’d say that its about time we get a new android phone. G1 hardware is pretty tiring.. and quite frankly sold only cuz of Android. Its not at all comparable to the latest phones coming out from Sony Ericsson, LG, Samsung etc..

All eyes now set on Mobile World Congress next month!
