As Asia distributors we (www.idasystems) will be offering the first 20 orders of the Freerunner with Google Android installed in India for Rs 17600 (inclusive of shipping and Central Sales Tax abd no requirement for for Google APPS sign up). Please note that this offer is only for people with significant linux experience/ developers as Android for the Freerunner still has some rough edges and future updates will be freely made available on our website and will need to be installed through a linux running computer.
The MRP of the Freerunner is Rs 22000 but to avail this offer you can mail zoheb at idasystems dot net

I tried Android on Freerunner one or two weeks ago, and there were some problems. Software keyboard isn’t good – in some popup windows you cannot fill forms (essid for wifi for example). Wifi do not find networks. And the biggest problem is suspend: if Android suspends Freerunner you can’t wakeup it.
I’m waiting for G1 now;)

Be nice to have some clearer pics. Many new Android phones are coming. It will be interesting to see how the competition works its way out.

Why oh why can’t they come out with a model that has 3g =[

Will I buy it? No.
Why? Same reason I did not buy the FreeRunner when it originally came out–lack of speed. GPRS is horribly, frustratingly slow. In real-world tests, EDGE is many times faster. So the previous model iPhone is superior in network connectivity to the FreeRunner.
The open source nature of the device is great, but what good is open source when the product is so far behind the curve in functionality but not price?

GPRS is ancient. IMHO any new mobile device launched without at least 3g will be stillborn.

I have been watching progress on the Freerunner and Android for about a year now on http://www.koolu.com/
This is a developer’s device, not a user’s phone.
