G1 costs $144 Bill On Materials

G1 is worth $144 according iSuppli Corp based on its own inventory list- Mobile Handset Cost Model (MHCM). They basically disassemble the device and establish is hardware component value.

Its pretty interesting how G1 is around $179 providing the Handset and T-Mobile network services. Some believe G1 unlocked gsm phone officially is around $300-$400.

The article further goes down piece-by-piece on all components confirming the non multi-touch screen and finally compares it to industry rival iPhone3G pretty much re-affirming what everyone believes about the Device design [ the good & the bad ]

Nevertheless, it hails Android’s debut in the market but points out the tiny gap existing at the moment in User experience between iPhone’s mini Mac OS.

For us here, Android bridges the gap between the extravagant iPhone heavily controlled by Apple and Symbian/Windows Mobile that seem like 80 year olds on their way to extinction uncless CHANGED drastically. I’m not criticising Symbian and/or Microsoft for their any “reckless-coding”, theyre pretty good nicely coded operating systems that changed mobile phones years ago. But Android is Obama! which brings in Optimism and Hope (I have no idea what I’m referring to.. but hey, neither do Obama supports, but we like em both) nuff said.
