This is a question I keep asking myself a number of times. After seeing the pics of the device T-Mobile G1 / HTC Dream, I keep wondering whats pros’ that force me to get it and do I have alternatives?
I came up with some absurd answers, some logical answers and some were pure personal.
Reasons You SHOULD get T-Mobile G1 (after reading some reviews ofcourse, which will be here when the time comes!)

- Android Operating System. Android is the only exciting thing happening this year in the mobile domain. The last one was the Apple iPhone. Its not everyday that you see a new platform being launched. Wer getting G1 maybe only for it being the first device to bring Android to us. Your next question will be “why buy Android?”. One word, Google! After using Gmail as my webmail app and using Google Chrome as my internet experience, using Google Adsense to monetise my website, using Google Analytics to get vital statistics for my site, using Google Maps to reach the nearest Toilet booth and ofcourse, using Google Search to survive online, its BUT natural that we’d have some excessive special interest in Google Android. Right now theres very little we know about Android.. its only the beginning of what could be a very exciting journey.
- Google! yes, Google is a big reason why we should think of getting this G1. Google is starting to enjoy a very young hip image that Apple has enjoyed for generations! So, anything Google touches, turns to gold. And why shouldnt it? they’ve really changed the internet landscape, brought back AJAX to life, i could keep listing here..
- Opensource. The very nature of the operating system being offered is based on principles that developers live for! They love opensource. they create apps we love! Go Open code!
- Viruses. Amm, yea, indirectly this is a good time to get android, since its new, no viruses yet! simple.
- Fresh Flare User Interface. I personally enjoy difference. I moved from Symbian to Windows Mobile. Then on to Blackberry and now cant wait for Android and what it can offer. Not because any of the operating systems are deficient, but maybe change has to be constant. Who knows, i might eagerly wait for Symbian Foundation‘s next coming in 2009.
- HTC: Lastly HTC one of the leaders of Smartphone manufacters in the windows arena, seems to know what its doing!
Now why you should NOT get it!
- Google. For some critics, google might be a reason to resist getting android. Google has ventured into so many domains in our online lives that control alot of real earthly dealings, that its pretty scary to see it everywhere.
- Android – Application Support. Is there enough application support out there to woo audience. The fact that its developer-challenge could undermine the quality of Applications and Google’s less involvement in Application Development. Although this arguement is very Unfair at this stage.
- Target Users Android and T-Mobile along with HTC seem to target whole of mobile user community. Its so not clear as to whom this device is really for? The Corporates are happy with Windows mobile, Blackberrys, the young apples will get iPhones remaining go for Nokia-Symbian. If your not a tech enthusiast, what are the possible reasons that amaze you abt android? Probably its UI, freshness, what apart from that? For a common man, its better he waits for other OHA members to throw some variety in.
- T-Mobile G1 device. I think HTC couldve done alot more with the device organics.
- More? im still thinking!

Interesting review, I was about to buy an Iphone… now I have to rethink about it.
You think you can put a really good comparison between the iphone and the Android G1 with specs, techs, pros and cons?
Thanks

Thanks for your comment Daniel, Comparison between Android and iPhone is inevitable! But coming up with an article wont do justice to Android or iPhone cuz we _DO_ need hands on experience.
But i’ll say this, for me, the Qwerty keyboard is a huge plus point!
