Strategy Analytics are busy doing what they do.. analyse. They predict that android will grab about 4% of smartphone market in the fourth quarter of 2008. Thats a pretty big number.
Chris Ambrosio, executive director at Strategy Analytics, said, “Google has the brand power in the USA to make a big impact at launch. The main issue will be operator subsidies. As seen with the iPhone and smart devices in general, retail prices need to be well below $200 to be competitive. Longer-term success will, of course, rest on Android vendor ability to create designs with wow factor and an intuitive user-interface. Google will do its part to drive growth, and we expect Android will eventually offer a compelling range of mobile applications emphasizing Google’s online assets, such as advertising, mapping, and search.”
All that with just one Android Device on the table?? or they have considered the possibility of other handset manufacturers launching their devices before the year ends.
While Google’s clean innovative image does play a vital role in wooing customers, details about the first official version android remain sketchy. That will clear on 23rd September. Till then, Im still confused if this T-Mobile HTC G1 is for me or should I wait for others to launch their smartphones. My tech-love-nature will be the only reason I’ll get the G1 otherwise its wide known that G1 aesthetically fails to impress.
Its not just the Operating System we’re looking at!
Samsung, LG, Texas Instruments….. wake up and get a piece of Q4 marketshare!
